The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain has awarded $67,800 in third-quarter discretionary fund grants to a variety of community agencies and programs.
In addition to discretionary grants, the Foundation’s Board of Directors ratified the disbursement of $32,590 in grants from donor-advised and scholarship funds, established by individual donors for a specific charitable intent and managed by the Foundation.
Third-quarter discretionary grants ranged in size from $1,300 to $20,000. The Foundation awards grants on a quarterly basis and each year distributes upwards of $1 million to nonprofit agencies and organizations in its four-town service area.
Grant recipients and awards approved by the Foundation’s Board of Directors include:
- Literacy Volunteers of America, New Britain, $20,000. For program expansion to a new off-site location in New Britain, and for support of the program’s “Bridges to Literacy” initiative, which helps adult literacy learners become more immersed in the community.
