“Community Conversation” puts donors ‘in the know’ about innovative programs being funded.

(May 28, 2009) – The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain sponsors “Community Conversation” to introduce donors to the fruits of the organization’s grantmaking. The May 12th Conversations featured the cognitive fitness program offered by Central Connecticut Senior Health Services at two locations, Arbor Rose/Jerome Home in New Britain and Mulberry Gardens in Southington, which are funded by a $20,000 grant from the Community Foundation. Friends of the Community Foundation will have another opportunity to learn about this innovative program next month when Mulberry Gardens will host an open house, Maintain Your Brain Day on Friday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. To register or for more information, call 276-1020.

And looking ahead, the next Community Conversation will be held on June 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Greater New Britain Arts Alliance. The mission of the Arts Alliance is to promote the creative, performing and visual arts, to provide a unified voice for the arts organizations, to serve as a catalyst for arts-related collaborations, to nurture individual creative abilities, and to advocate the arts as vital to the economic health and quality of life in the region. Stephen Hard, Executive Director of GNAA, will discuss the arts in New Britain and the impact they are having on our community.

Following lunch, host Stephen Hard will lead interested participants on a walking tour of some of the arts organizations located in the downtown area, which may include the Artists Cooperative, New Britain Industrial Museum, City Hall-Art in the Heart of the City, the New Britain Public Library, the New Britain Youth Museum and the Art League of New Britain.

RSVPs are requested by June 15. To register or for more information, please call Karlyn Jackson at 860-229-6018, ext. 300, or email to kjackson@cfgnb.org.
