Celebrate Plainville! Award Selection Committee Named

Nine Plainville business and community leaders have been chosen to serve on the Selection Committee for the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s Celebrate Plainville! Award, part of the Foundation’s four-town Celebrate Our Communities community service awards program in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington.

The awards will honor one outstanding grassroots volunteer in each community, and a local charity of the honoree’s choice.

Named to serve on the committee along with co-chairs Susan Dean, president and CEO of the Plainville Chamber of Commerce and Barbara Petit of William Petit Properties, LLC, of Plainville were: Patricia Charles, assistant superintendent, Plainville Community Schools; Attorney Anthony O. Famiglietti of Famiglietti & Famiglietti Attorneys at Law, Plainville; Audrey Lewis, a well-known Plainville community volunteer; Robin Lee Michel, Managing Editor, The Plainville Citizen; Gail Millerick, a Plainville resident and Director of Development at MidState Medical Center; Shirley Osle, assistant town manager, Town of Plainville; and Byron J. Treado, III, Chairman of the Plainville Chamber of Commerce and Vice President, Commercial Lending, Farmington Savings Bank.

“This group represents an outstanding cross-section of business and community leaders in Plainville and is extremely qualified to choose the Celebrate Plainville! Award winner from among nominees submitted by residents of the community,” said Foundation President Jim Williamson.

The Celebrate Plainville! Award winner will earn the right to designate a $2,500 grant award from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain to a Plainville charity or community service organization of their choice. The Community Foundation has earmarked a total of $10,000 in grant awards for the program in its four communities.

The Plainville Citizen is a co-sponsor of the Celebrate Plainville! Award. Nomination forms are available by visiting the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s website, or The Plainville Citizen website at www.theplainvillecitizen.com. Nomination deadline is February 28. The winner will be announced in The Citizen in March.
