Celebrate New Britain! Award Selection Committee Named
Seven New Britain business and community leaders have been chosen to serve on the Selection Committee for the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s Celebrate New Britain! Award, part of the Foundation’s four-town Celebrate Our Communities community service awards program in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington.
The awards will honor one outstanding grassroots volunteer in each community, and a local charity of the honoree’s choice.
Named to serve on the committee along with co-chairs Gennaro Bizzarro, Esq., Partner, Sheehan, Rembish, LaSaracina & Bizzarro, LLC, and William Millerick, President, New Britain Chamber of Commerce, were: New Britain resident Gerri Brown-Springer; Angelo D’Alfonso, Business Outreach Coordinator, New Britain Chamber of Commerce; Joe Kuzma, Community Services Senior Associate, United Way of New Britain and Berlin; Marc Romanow, Publisher, The Herald of New Britain; and Robin Sharp, co-executive director, YWCA of New Britain.
“This group represents an outstanding cross-section of business and community leaders in New Britain and is extremely qualified to choose the Celebrate New Britain! Award winner from among nominees submitted by residents of the community,” said Foundation President Jim Williamson.
The Celebrate New Britain! Award winner will earn the right to designate a $2,500 grant award from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain to a New Britain charity or community service organization of their choice. The Community Foundation has earmarked a total of $10,000 in grant awards for the program in its four communities.
The Herald of New Britain is a co-sponsor of the Celebrate New Britain! Award. Nomination forms are available by visiting the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s website at www.cfgnb.org, or The Herald’s website (click on “towns”). Nomination deadline is February 28. The winner will be announced in The Herald in April and be honored at the New Britain Chamber of Commerce’s Interservice Club Awards luncheon in May.
