Community Foundation Slates Grants Workshop for Area Nonprofits

New Grant Guidelines to be Presented February 29

(February 5, 2008) The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain will hold a workshop on Friday, February 29, at which it will unveil its revised grant guidelines and grant application procedures for area nonprofits.

The workshop, entitled “Investing in Our Future: Grant Guidelines for a Vibrant, Healthy Community,” will take place from 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the Institute of Business and Technology Development (ITBD), 185 Main Street, New Britain. All current or potential Community Foundation grantees in the Foundation’s service area of Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington are encouraged to register for this important, free event, said Joeline Wruck, director of program for the Community Foundation.

“As our communities and their needs evolve, the Community Foundation must evolve to ensure that the significant dollars we distribute to programs, agencies and organizations throughout our service area be invested prudently and for maximum community benefit,” said Wruck. “This workshop will help grantees learn how to properly structure program and funding requests so that the Foundation can continue its mission of making our communities as strong as they can be.”

The workshop will feature a presentation by Hal Williams, president of Rensselaerville Institute, one of the nation’s leading consultants to foundations and nonprofits who has assisted Foundations nationwide, including the Community Foundation, in adopting new, exciting grant frameworks. The title of Mr. Williams’ presentation is “Shifting Activities to
Results.”

To register, contact Pat McNamara at the Community Foundation at (860) 229-6018, ext. 300, or e-mail pmcnamara@cfgnb.org. Registration deadline is February 22. Organizations are encouraged to have at least two attendees such as executive director, development director, program staff or volunteers.

Established in 1941, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain annually distributes upwards of $1 million annually in grants and scholarships. The Foundation seeks to connect donors who care with causes that matter in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington.
