Celebrate Plainville! Award Selection Committee Named
Nine Plainville business and community leaders have been chosen to serve on the selection committee for the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s Celebrate Plainville! award, part of the Foundation’s four-town Celebrate Our Communities! community service awards program in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington.
The awards will honor one outstanding grassroots volunteer in each community, and a local charity of the honoree’s choice.
Chairman of the 2007 Plainville Selection Committee will be William Petit, Owner/President of William Petit Properties, LLC in Plainville. Serving on the committee along with Petit will be: Dr. Kathleen Binkowski, Superintendent, Plainville Community Schools; Linda Ferguson, Assistant Controller, Carling Technologies, Inc.; Robert Frazee, Sales Manager and Loan Officer, Family Choice Mortgage; Signe Guzzo, Corporate Secretary/Treasurer, Ideal Machinery & Supply Co.; Robin Lee Michel, Managing Editor, The Plainville Citizen; Gail Millerick, a Plainville resident and Director of Development, MidState Medical Center; Lynda Russell, Co-Owner, The Window Shop, Inc.; and Richard Williams, President, The D.R. Templeman Co.
“We are fortunate once again to have such a distinguished group of community leaders who are committed to Plainville to choose this year’s Celebrate Plainville! award recipient,” said Foundation President Jim Williamson. “Their biggest challenge will be to choose only one recipient.”
The Celebrate Plainville! award recipient will earn the right to designate a $2,500 grant award from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain to a Plainville charity or community service organization of their choice. The Community Foundation has earmarked a total of $10,000 in grant awards for the program in its four communities.
On-line nomination forms are available on The Plainville Citizen’s website at www.theplainvillecitizen.com, and are also available by visiting the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s website at www.cfgnb.org or by calling (860) 229-6018. Nomination deadline is February 28. The winner will be announced in the spring.
