Best-Selling Author Douglas Lawson to Visit Hartford

“Give to Live” Author to Speak on “Inspired Philanthropy”

(October 17, 2008) Best-selling author and nonprofit consultant Douglas M. Lawson, whose book “Give to Live: How Giving Can Change Your Life” is considered a standard-bearer in the world of philanthropy, will visit the Hartford area on Thursday, October 30 to speak about “Inspired Philanthropy.”

Dr. Lawson will address a gathering of area philanthropists, financial advisors and others in an address sponsored by the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford and Main Street Community Foundation. The event will take place at the Pond House Café, 1555 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and is open to the public at no cost. “Give to Live” (Alti Publishing, 1991) is currently in its sixth printing and has been published in numerous foreign languages, including Spanish, Italian, Korean and German. Dr. Lawson has also authored “More Give to Live: How Giving Can Change Your Life” as well as “Volunteering: 101 Ways You Can Improve the World and Your Life” and “Faith In the Future.”

Dr. Lawson is the founding chairman of Lawson Associates, Inc., a fund-raising and management consulting firm which has served more than a thousand clients throughout the world. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and among many additional positions serves on the advisory board of the Yale Divinity School.
