Gerry Amodio Assumes Chairmanship of Community Foundation of Greater New Britain
Officers and Committee Chairs Named; Manafort, Juncadella Join Board
(July 21, 2008) Gerry Amodio, Chief Operating Officer of Amodio Worldwide Moving and Storage of New Britain and a member of the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain board of directors since 2003, was elected board chair at the Foundation’s recent annual meeting.
“I’ve enjoyed my service to the Foundation and I look forward to helping it continue its vital role in sustaining and growing the communities we serve,” said Mr. Amodio (left), who along with his wife, Lisa, is a lifelong New Britain resident. “Our communities face greater challenges than ever before, and it is important that the Foundation be proactive in working with our community partners to address our collective needs in social services, economic development, early childhood development and the arts for improvement in the communities in which we live.”
Amodio succeeds Donna Lasher, Vice President of OKAY Industries who served as chair for the past two years. Ms. Lasher remains a board member.
Mr. Amodio has a long history of community service in Greater New Britain. He is a member of the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Club of New Britain; New Britain/Berlin YMCA; and the New Britain Chamber of Commerce. He is a corporator for both the Hospital of Central Connecticut and Hospital for Special Care, is a member of the New Britain Institute Board of Managers, and serves as a commissioner with the City of New Britain Department of Public Works and the Mattabassett District Water Control Center.
Elected vice chair was Paul G. Salina, retired principal of New Britain High School. Mr. Salina is also chair of the Governance Committee. Dr. Charles N. Leach, Jr., retired cardiologist at New Britain General Hospital, was reelected treasurer. Foundation President James G. Williamson, a non-board member, serves as secretary to the board.

In addition to the election of officers, the Foundation also announced the addition of two new members to the board: real estate investor/entrepreneur and former teacher Tabitha Manafort, and Enrique Juncadella, Director of Community Relations for the Hospital of Central Connecticut (both left).
Committee chairs appointed in addition to Mr. Salina were: Laurence A. Tanner, Audit Committee (non-board member); Douglas Lasher, Building Committee (non-board member); Paul D’Addabbo, Catalyst Fund Steering Committee (non-board member); Gerry Amodio, Executive Committee; Dr. Charles N. Leach, Jr., Finance and Investments Committee; Phyllis Kindelan, Grants Committee; and Carol Virostek, Scholarship Committee (non-board member).
In addition to those named above, additional Foundation board members include Charles W. Bauer; Geraldine Brown-Springer; Cheryl Carlson; Manon-Lu-Christ; Andrew Meade; Gail Millerick; Hugh Penney; and the Rev. Victoria Triano.
Established in 1941, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain connects donors who care with causes that matter in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington. It does this by raising resources and developing partnerships that make a measurable improvement in the quality of life in each of these communities.
