Our Mission
The mission of the Friendship Service Center of New Britain, Inc. is to provide friendship and direct service to the poor and needy of Central Connecticut, including the ownership and operation of housing for the poor.
The Friendship Center was founded in 1968 by Monsignor Joseph Farrell who lived his life believing that “Nobody is a nobody in the eyes of God.” Although many aspects of the Friendship Center’s services have changed over time to reflect community needs, the founder’s core values remain the same. Today the Friendship Service Center provides a continuum of services for those who are poor and homeless. These services range from outreach to those still living on the streets, to soup kitchen services, emergency needs, emergency shelter, transitional living, beyond shelter services and permanent supportive housing.
