Wanted: New Catalyst Fund Members
Future Philanthropists Invited to May 27 Meeting
(April 2, 2009) Critical challenges facing the area’s older adults will be the topic at the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s first Catalyst Fund meeting of 2009. The meeting will take place at Arbor Rose at The Jerome Home, 975 Corbin Avenue in New Britain, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
All members of the public interested in becoming actively involved in meaningful and rewarding charitable giving are invited to attend this introductory meeting as guests of the Community Foundation. Please RSVP to Karlyn Jackson at 860-229-6018, ext. 300 or via email to kjackson@cfgnb.org. Light refreshments are served.
The Catalyst Fund is modeled after giving circles around the country. It brings people together who care about Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington to experience philanthropy first-hand. With a modest donation of $250, members (individuals and couples) pool their resources to learn about important issues facing our communities and jointly choose and award an annual grant to a nonprofit that is tackling that issue.
Catalyst Fund members have chosen current challenges facing senior citizens as their area of focus in 2009. The membership will use the insight gained during this presentation to guide their consideration of applicants for a $10,000 grant award, which will take place at the final meeting in November.
