Over $135,000 in Scholarships To Be Offered By Community Foundation of Greater New Britain in 2012
New Britain, Conn. (February 1, 2012)
–The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain (CFGNB) has been a tremendous source of hope and help to local college-bound graduating high school seniors over the years. Last year the Foundation provided 55 scholarships totaling nearly $136,000 in financial support. Expectations for 2012 are to at least maintain that level of scholarship grants. The Foundation offers these scholarships to graduating seniors from high schools in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington with select scholarships for students in Farmington, Newington and Wethersfield. There are also various scholarships for students already enrolled in a program of higher education.
"All around us we hear news about increasing tuition rates and difficult economic times. These two things are not a good mix for young students interested in higher education. Last year, CFGNB was able to provide 55 students with scholarship grants helping to make their education dreams a reality. We're glad we can help again this year by providing much needed financial support to our area students," explains James Jones, Dean of Students, Slade Middle School, New Britain and Chair of the CFGNB Scholarship Committee. The Foundation manages more than 40 scholarship funds established by donors who have determined the criteria for eligibility and selection.
How to Apply for CFGNB Scholarships:
Public High School students should speak with their Guidance Counselors who have detailed information on the scholarships and application process.
Private or Parochial High School students should visit the scholarship section of the Community Foundation’s website (www.cfgnb.org) to see the scholarship list and obtain application information.
