Community Foundation of Greater New Britain
President, Jim Williamson, Selected to Participate in Inaugural CFLeads Executive Leadership Institute

(October 17, 2011) –Jim Williamson, president of The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain (CFGNB) has been selected by CFLeads, a national learning cooperative on community leadership, to be among 13 community foundation CEO’s in the organization’s inaugural Executive Leadership Institute. All 13 CEO’s selected purposefully represent community foundations based in older, industrialized cities, mostly in New England and the Northeast.

“The Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) is a new and unique program to help community foundation leaders strengthen the skills they need to lead during these extraordinarily challenging times. Through presentations from thought leaders from inside and outside of philanthropy, discussion of research and data on current economic and social trends, and structured conversation and advice from colleagues from other older industrialized cities, ELI will provide inspiration, information and innovation for CEOs whose ultimate objective is immense and not easily defined or measured: the overall well-being of their community,” explains CFLeads Director Deborah Ellwood.

The one-year, intensive learning opportunity will include three, small group face-to-face meetings in Boston, MA and Providence, RI; sessions with special advisors with significant experience in the field; and personalized help with a specific local community challenge.

“Collaboration is a key component of good leadership. Sharing the successes we have had working as a catalyst for change in the four communities we serve in the Greater New Britain area with CEO’s from other similar community foundations will be an honor. And I expect to glean new, creative ideas and solutions from those communities which could prove beneficial to our work here as well. I’m pleased to have been selected for this inaugural Executive Leadership Institute cohort,” says CFGNB President, Jim Williamson.
