Community Foundation of Greater New Britain Invites New Grant Proposals from Berlin, Plainville, New Britain and Southington Organizations

(September 8, 2011) – The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain (CFGNB) invites proposals from area organizations with programs or services that improve the quality of life for the residents of Berlin, Plainville, New Britain or Southington.

CFGNB discretionary grant making is done in the winter, spring and fall. The next deadline for submission of Grant Proposals is October 15, 2011. Proposals received will be considered by the Foundation Board in December. Interested organizations can review the Foundation’s grant guidelines and proposal forms by visiting the Grants page of the Foundation’s website, www.cfgnb.org

CFGNB invests in organizations across a broad range of fields including arts, culture & heritage, community & economic development, education and health & human services. Of those, CFGNB’s top funding priority, known as its “First Years First” initiative, supports early childhood development programs. Since 2005, the Foundation has devoted an average of 20% of its annual discretionary grants budget to this initiative, or almost $200,000 per year. Overall, CFGNB awards almost $1,000,000 annually in grants and scholarships. Grant awards typically range from $5,000 to $25,000, although larger grant awards can be considered where circumstances warrant.
