If You Build It, They Will Donate
June 29, 2010 - Do you have a cause near and dear to your heart or an issue you feel needs attention in our communities? Creating or supporting a Field of Interest Fund is a powerful tool which allows you to make a positive difference focused on a topic you feel strongly about.
By establishing a Field of Interest Fund with the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, you create a tool for yourself (and others who also care about your topic) to benefit our communities and achieve your personal charitable goals. While you direct the Field of Interest in this fund, the maintenance, management and monitoring of community needs is handled for you by our experienced staff.
Gerry and Lisa Amodio recently created the Lewis G. & Ada C. Amodio Fund for Children with the Community Foundation to create a permanent legacy to Gerry’s parents. Gerry, Executive Director of the New Britain Downtown District, has been involved with the CFGNB for over a decade and currently serves on the Board of Directors. His mother, Ada, was a school teacher in New Britain. Lisa Amodio is also a teacher, so they felt it would be a fitting tribute to designate the Fund to support the needs of Greater New Britain’s youth.
“We love this Fund because it allows us a permanent way to honor my parents by helping the children in our community. We didn’t want to place any restrictions on this fund so that CFGNB would have the ability to put the Fund’s dollars to their highest and best use as the experts in attracting donors and understanding the community’s ever-changing needs,” explains Gerry Amodio.
