Children and their parents/grandparents are enthusiastic about the new playgroup in the “Dragon's Den" at Derynoski School
(February 26, 2009) - Southington’s new Family Resource Center is offering the playgroups in four of the town’s eight elementary schools to help young children and their parents make a successful transition to school. At full capacity with waiting lists, the popular playgroups are led by Krista Pringle, (seated at left) a certified parent educator on staff with the Family Resource Center, which is part of the Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington. Operating with a $25,000 grant from the First Years First Fund, the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain’s early childhood development initiative, the Collaborative brings parents, educators, community stakeholders and others together to ensure that all Southington children enter school ready to learn.
