Register for Nov. 18th Nonprofit Workshop
(October 21, 2009) The area’s nonprofit leaders are invited to attend “Tough Times, Tough Decisions”, the third workshop in a popular series co-sponsored by the American Savings Foundation and the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, to help nonprofits imagine, plan and act on innovative strategies for the current economic environment. “Tough Times, Tough Decisions” will be offered Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to Noon at The Stanley Center for Learning & Innovation, 1000 Stanley Drive, New Britain.
Conducted by Priya Morganstern and other presenters from the ProBono Partnership of Hartford and New York City, this free workshop will look at the critical financial, staffing, real estate and other operations issues that nonprofits need to analyze as they consider their next steps. Topics will include: how to know if your organization is in real trouble; tactics to reduce HR expenses; real estate issues; legal implications of closure; the realities of continuing operations; and finance/creditor issues.
Community Foundation President Jim Williamson and David Davison, president and CEO of American Savings Foundation have received positive feedback from nonprofit leaders who say they are already putting into use information they learned in the first two workshops. “What we’re hearing tells us that the timing and content of these presentations is not only relevant but critical,” said Williamson who added, “The recent United Way survey which indicated that a full one-third of Central CT’s nonprofits fear possible closure this coming year adds great urgency to the need for these new survival skills.”
Advance registration is required. For more information or to register, visit http://www.asfdn.org/probonopartnership.cfm and follow the link to the workshop, or call American Savings Foundation at 860-827-2556 or the Community Foundation at 860-229-6018.
