Celebrate Plainville! Award Selection Committee Chair Named
(February 3, 2008) – Linda Ferguson, Assistant Controller of Plainville-based Carling Technologies Inc., has agreed to co-chair the selection committee for this year’s Community Foundation of Greater New Britain Celebrate Plainville! award, part of the Foundation’s four-town Celebrate Our Communities! community service awards program in Berlin, New Britain, Plainville and Southington.
Ferguson is a former secretary and member of the Board of Directors of the Plainville Chamber of Commerce and co-chairs their annual silent auction, golf tournament and scholarship committee. She is also a past treasurer of the Toffolon School PTO, as well as past vice president of Our Lady of Mercy School PTO. In addition, she served as recording secretary for the Plainville Planning and Zoning Commission and Plainville Inland Wetland Commission.
She will lead a group of business and community leaders in reviewing this year’s nominations for the outstanding grassroots volunteer in Plainville. The Celebrate Plainville! award recipient will earn the right to designate a $2,500 grant award from the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain to a Plainville charity or community service organization of their choice. The Community Foundation has earmarked a total of $10,000 in grant awards for the program in its four communities.
